I am posting on behalf of my father, Mark Frye, who lost his home in a house fire last Sunday on Vandiver. The fire destroyed everything he owned and he also lost two of his pets in the tragedy. He is currently trying to find a place to live and we are asking the community for help.
He is on SSI and SSDI with a guaranteed monthly income of around $1,100, so he does have steady income, just no savings after the fire. We have contacted the American Red Cross, United Way, Salvation Army, Burrell, and the Housing Authority but have not been able to secure housing yet. We were told that emergency housing programs are extremely limited and many are reserved for people already in shelters, dealing with addiction or mentally unstable, which has made this situation that much harder.
He is looking for a small rental, trailer, apartment or any affordable place willing to work with someone on fixed income. He is quiet, respectful, and just needs a safe place to start over.
If you have a rental available or know someone who does, please reach out. Any help or leads would mean a lot.
He would like to stay close to the $500-$600 a month range. Splitting the deposit into 2 payments would be great if at all possible.
Me and my wife created a GFM account for him because of this horrible event but have yet to even reach $1.
Thank you for reading & have a blessed day 🙏
